PS

Holy crap! I just realized that before that last post, it has been five months since my last post! I never was good at keeping a diary as a child... =

While Jon's project is in the construction phase, the contractor's will be working 24/7... which means that Jon ends up working mostly nights and weekends. For about two months now, he is leaving for work as I am getting home from work (we usually miss each other by a few minutes), and he gets home from work (and into bed!) right before I get up in the morning. What a PAIN! I feel like I am in a long-distance relationship - except even then, we got our weekends together. so frustrating!

I get that comment ALL the time. People always seem to think I look like someone they know. How come I don't look like any celebrities???

post break-in

Ever since the 'break in', I have been THE biggest baby EVER. This is pretty frequent, and about three times a week (wild guess), I turn into a total weirdo about people breaking in, and get major OCD about double checking the locks, the curtains, etc., to the point of near neurotic.

So, this week, Jon is in Colorado with friends and it is the first time I'll have to sleep by myself since everything happened. Last night (his first night in CO), I turned the heater down almost 10 degrees and slept with extra covers, just to avoid having to hear the (very loud) furnace turn on as often in the night. I also had to do two mid-night rounds to make sure everything looked okay. I also made Hershe sleep on the bed side closest to the door, while I faced opposite it.

Seriously, I need to get a grip.

things that go CRASH in the night

About two months ago, Jon & I & Dave went to go see a midnight movie that didn't get out until 2am. We came directly home, and Jon and Dave both passed out. I was laying in bed, unable to fall asleep because Hershe was whining for attention. At about 2:30 in the morning, there was this loud sound of glass shattering -- enough to make your heart just stop beating entirely.

Often, when I'm scared at night, I'll make sure I'm entirely covered by the blanket, and hold my breath, thinking "If I'm still enough they'll never find me." In this particular moment, when the glass was in the midst of shattering, it wasn't something I had time to think about -- it was a reaction. Within seconds (literally -- count to three), we were on the phone with the cops, and Jon was barracading us in the room, while Hershe (who is a pitbull, by the way) was hiding behind me in the bathroom.

Within 8 minutes, we had heard the crash, called the cops, they had come to the house, cleared everything, and left -- that quick. As it turns out, the shelving in our kitchen island had broken (randomly, as some things do), and all the pots, pans, and pyrex dishes had come crashing to the floor. Funny, in retrospect, but for those 8 solid minutes, I was in the middle of what I thought was a break-in.

WHAT!

drool

I'm also wondering why Hershe (dog) drools so much after playing outside. Seriously, what is going on?!?

video conferencing

What is a good program to video conference on? I use Skype or Gchat to video chat with one friend.... how can I do it with, say, four or five of us?
